What we like

Haven't found an easier way to share travel pictures and details real-time.

What we dislike

App chokes sometimes when sharing pictures. Pro version should have an option to remove branding and links from emails.

Though sharing photos with friends and family as you travel is easy, it’s not always convenient to stop what you’re doing to type out a new update for Facebook or write an email.

That’s why I appreciate these two apps: InstaPlace and InstaWeather. Both from the same developer and almost identical. These apps are super simple to use and save time when sharing new places you visit with your family and friends. Snap a photo and the app will overlay text that shows where your picture was taken or what the current weather is. Then just post on any social site. No need to add more details to your update if you don’t want to, the picture says it all.

The main differences between the two apps are in the options you can overlay on your pictures. InstaWeather allows you to add current weather conditions on your photos, while InstaPlace has a dozens of “skins” to choose from that contain different text and design layouts. I especially like InstaWeather since my family always asks about the weather wherever I travel.

There’s no shortage of image editing apps you can download, ones that allow you to add borders, cute decorations, photo effects, panoramic photos and so on. But I really like the simplicity of these apps, in just a few taps my family can see where I am, what I’m doing and get the weather too.

Though these apps excel at simplicity, there are many customization features that you can preset for your next photo. InstaWeather can provide many different weather stats while InstaPlace has several templates for just about any occasion.

Both apps are free with paid versions at $0.99 each. The paid versions are add free and have additional overlay templates to choose from.
